Job summary

The role is based within the UKRI Financial Control Team which is part of the UKRI Finance Group. The role would work specifically on Innovate UK financial accounting (supporting the IUK Senior Financial Accountant) to help with the delivery of both Innovate UK and UKRI Financial Accounts and drive improvement to existing processes and align with harmonised UKRI financial policies and processes.

Job description

  • To assist with Innovate UK monthly and year end journal preparation
  • To lead on the production of the Innovate UK Counterparty and Whole of Government Accounts figures that are reported to BEIS our central government parent body. Involves liaising with other entities that IUK transact with to agree in year transactions and year end balances 
  • To lead on cash flow forecasting liaison with Financial Control colleagues and Innovate UK Business Partner team to assist with IUK monthly cash forecasting requirements 
  • To lead on Innovate UK Monthly fixed asset movement journals
  • To lead on maintaining the Innovate UK fixed asset register
  • Support Innovate UK Senior Financial Accountant on interim and final accounts audit work
  • Support Innovate UK Senior Financial Accountant as required on interim and year end accounts tasks 
  • Support work to further develop financial controls and processes on Innovate UK finance system (Workday)

Person specification

Essential

  • Part qualified accountant or equivalent experience working in an accounting environment
  • An ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Good inter-personal and organisation skills 
  • Good liaison, networking and negotiation skills
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to develop good working relationships with others, especially when working in a cross-disciplinary environment
