Finance Business Partners support the business in delivering programmes and operating costs effectively, providing clear advice and being able to identify and outline technical finance solutions as required.
These are high profile, business-engaging roles, where you will build strong relationships based on influence and facilitating constructive challenge of the business. As a Finance Business Partner, you will provide regular financial information, detailed analysis, and business insight to Directors and finance colleagues to support effective planning, decision making, and capacity building.
Job description
In this role you will also be responsible for:
- Key finance processes to generate quality timely and accurate performance reports, analysis, and recommendations to facilitate effective decision making.
- Preparing, supporting and informing scenario-based forecasts, considering risk, probability, and contingency planning, and support portfolio management over multiple financial years.
- Conducting challenge meetings with senior budget holders to promote accountability, ensure VFM, and contribute to the production of better financial information, including forecasting and variance analysis.
- Completing corporate finance returns, operational plan submissions, implementation of the finance improvement plan, and other corporate initiatives/policies.
- Supporting strategic finance exercises such as business planning, resource allocation, and strategic workforce planning.
- Contributing to the maintenance and strengthening of the internal control environment to mitigate risks and providing support to internal and external audits.
- Improving standards of financial management by supporting budget holder teams and applying professional judgement in interpreting management information, partner evidence, and accounting standards, and explaining this to non-finance staff.
Person specification
Minimum Criteria
- Part Qualified with CCAB, CIMA or equivalent; or working towards qualification; with financial experience over an extended period of time.
- Ability to analyse, manage and present complex financial information clearly both verbally and in writing to support organisational decision-making. The job holder must understand different financial planning and budgeting techniques and their application in different contexts.
- Advanced practical skills in one or more area of management accounting and cost analysis, investment finance, treasury management, planning and budgeting and financial accounting, and who can set and interpret financial policy in these areas and combining this with sound business knowledge, is able to provide advice, guidance and leadership to others.
- Proactive approach and a focus on continuous improvement of self and service, with an appetite to work with others to simplify processes and improve efficiency.
