We offer a hybrid working model that provides flexibility to our colleagues in terms of how they work, as long as it meets the needs of both the individual and the organisation. Whilst some opt to do the majority of their work from home, others opt to blend home and office working to suit their specific needs. Your contractual base will be either Edinburgh or Glasgow. You may be required to visit one of these locations when it is deemed necessary, however this is role dependant.

Job summary

To provide management information and financial analysis to enable evidenced based decision making in support of RoS business objectives and enable efficient and effective use of RoS resources through budgetary control.

Job description

Main duties:
•    Produce monthly delegated budgeting reports on staffing and expenditure, ensuring quality and accuracy.
•    Analyse the data produced and liaise with relevant areas to explain resource usage and understand drivers behind cost and performance variances.
•    Produce monthly reports for RoS governance bodies including business and financial performance report.
•    Ensure key messages from financial information are highlighted and clearly explained.
•    Provide assistance to business areas so that they understand the financial impact of their projects and follow cost control procedures.
•    Provide support in production of business cases, carrying out, 
•    analysis, appraisal and challenge to arrive at a robust end product.
•    Carry out financial analysis as required to ensure effective use of resources for example for fee reviews and process costing 
•    Provide support to the Finance Modelling Team where required.
•    Any other adhoc duties commensurate with the role

Person specification

Technical / Experience
Part qualified / qualified CCAB (or CIMA) Accountant, AAT (or similar) qualified or qualified by experience.
Competent in the use of Windows based finance systems and Microsoft office applications, as a minimum, have intermediate excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, conditional functions etc.)

•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate the strategic implications of complex financial issues. Works collaboratively to ensure that RoS delivers its strategic outcomes within the resources available.

Making Effective Decisions

•Strong analytical skills – Ability to interpret and communicate complex financial information effectively to key stakeholders, including non-finance professionals.

Managing a Quality Service

•Ability to work across teams, planning and driving forward longer-term work whilst managing shorter term demands. Deliver to deadlines and deliver high quality outputs under pressure, whilst demonstrating a commercial, financial, and sustainable mind set to ensure all activities and services deliver added value.

Delivering at pace

•Adaptable and willing to review role and priorities to meet the current and future needs of the organisation.

Alongside your salary of £36,312, Registers of Scotland contributes
£9,804 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
