We are currently recruiting a Risk Analyst to sit within one of the advertised  CAAS locations. Job description

The vacancy sits within the Risk Centre of Expertise (RCoE), which has been established to operate as the functional lead for Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) within CAAS. The successful applicant will work in a high-profile team, led by Director General Finance, that provides leadership in cost management to Enabling Organisations (EOs) and Front Line Commands (FLC).

The advantage of this role is its position within Head Office offering a unique variety of workstreams across different programmes. This exciting role provides greater depth and growth as well as technical leadership and allows the opportunity to develop skills in risk assurance, work with Defence partners and Government departments, to improve Quantitative Risk Management capability across Defence.

Responsibilities:

Reporting into the RCoE Section Leader,  also the Risk Lead for CAAS, you will provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice and guidance on Risk Management and Quantitative Risk Analysis, ensuring robust quality estimates are provided to customers to inform decision making by Senior Management. You will be expected to but not limited to:

  • Work alongside FLC and EO partners conducting independent assurance around risk management and quantitative risk analysis undertaken in project/programme/portfolio teams, identifying and communicating credible observations and suitable recommendations for improvement.
  • Support the development and improvement of pan-Defence capabilities in the areas of quantitative risk analysis, including but not limited to, verification & validation of schedule risk analysis models and Interpretation of probabilistic outputs.
  • Champion the development of the risk function, the team and personal development by working collaboratively with cost management professionals across Defence to promote CAAS good practice around risk management and risk analysis, as well as actively participating in functional events.
  • Build relationships with Defence partners i.e. Project Delivery Function, to develop and share risk guidance, process and ‘good practice’ documentation, ensuring they are implemented across Defence.  
  • Support the Estimating Capability Development Scheme (ECDS), including the development and delivery of risk training and providing on the shoulder support as required.

Where appropriate, individuals may be rotated into CAAS Programme teams and matrix managed by the RCoE Section Leader.

CAAS operate a hybrid working policy where there is flexibility to split the working week combining working from home and spending a minimum of 40% in the workplace, unless exceptional circumstances apply and/or you are an existing contractual home worker.

Qualifications

A degree or HND/HNC or Higher National Apprenticeship or Level 4 Equivalent in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) based subject and/or strong demonstrable evidence of knowledge and experience in a risk capacity and a proven track record of fulfilling a risk analyst/risk management or a similar type of role.

Strong demonstration of report writing and ability to communicate complex data to a range of audiences, including senior stakeholders.

Experience of scheduling/quantitative risk analysis software including but not limited to, Primavera P6, Primavera Risk Analyser, Microsoft Project and/or Predict Risk Analyser.

Experience of Line Management or managing a delivery team.

Ex Service candidates will be deemed to have the necessary academic requirements if they have at least 4 years technical experience in the rank of Staff Sergeant or equivalent and have completed approved courses of technical training.
