The purpose of the role is to support the Finance Business Partner and senior Finance Business Partner in the completion of daily, weekly and monthly Management Accounting tasks including those related to accruals and prepayments postings, internal and external actuals reporting and the monthly close process.
We are currently working in a Hybrid way and currently attending the office once a week which will be expectation with this role.
Job description
- Prepare and post monthly accruals and prepayments journals, and any necessary journals, and complete necessary tasks in the monthly close process;
- Complete the monthly analysis and narrative around Income Statement positions to ensure Actual Financial data is both correct and understood;
- Prepare monthly cost centre reports on Actuals Financial Data, for submission to Cost Centre Managers;
- Attend Cost Centre meetings, to ensure Cost Centre Managers and Budget Holders understand the Actuals Financial Data in their Directorates/areas of responsibility;
- Work collaboratively with the Finance Business Partners to ensure quality Actuals Data, and contribute where necessary to providing accurate Forecasting and Annual Budget data in accordance with Business Plan and Spending Reviews;
- Provide financial support, training and technical accounting advice where appropriate with key stakeholders;
- Assist Financial Accounting with the annual Financial Statements preparation;
- Continuing develop positive working relationships with Cost Centre managers to ensure collaborative working partnership with key stakeholders;
- Support the development/automation of current processes;
- The postholder will need to be technically competent and demonstrate an awareness of government accounting principles & processes.
Person specification
Essential
- AAT Level 4 or equivalent
- Experience in a Management Accounting role in a Finance section, either in private or public sector.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationship partners and colleagues
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Desire to learn and develop new skills
- Proven skills in problem solving
- Experience of all Microsoft Office products
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines with conflicting demands
- Excellent communication skills using business and technical language to all levels where appropriate
- A flexible and reliable approach to deal with a constantly changing working environment
Desirable
- CCAB part – qualified accountant/accountancy qualification studier
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience using PowerBI software or similar reporting software
