Job summary
The Deputy Governor, a position established under Section 23 of the Montserrat Constitution Order 2010, acts as the Chief Executive Officer of the Montserrat public service and reports directly to the Governor. The Deputy Governor leads the team of Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Department, directing the Public Service to deliver the strategies and policies of the elected Government. Retaining independence and impartiality, the Deputy Governor provides clear options and quality advice to Ministers. |
Job description
The post is at the heart of the leadership of the Territory and the public service in Montserrat. Displaying outstanding leadership skills, the Deputy Governor manages transformation programmes and ensures excellent management of professional, accountable, effective, well-motivated, responsible and non-partisan public service.
Assisting the Governor in the exercise of her/his functions, deputising and acting for the Governor when required, the Deputy Governor ensures the public service provides quality advice to Cabinet, facilitating Cabinet decisions and assisting with the formulation and effective implementation of government policies and plans.
