Job description

As Senior Assurance Manager you will act as a critical friend,  responsible for managing the delivery of programme and project assurance activities, ensuring cost effective, independent assurance of all change investments across the Agency, whilst providing advice and guidance throughout.

This role places you in an exclusive position where you will gain insight into change activity across the whole Agency, enabling you to truly experience the big picture. You will be uniquely placed to influence and interact with a range of stakeholders up to Executive Team level, allowing you to establish strong working relationships.

Key accountabilities of the role include:

• Manage the delivery of continuous assurance activities for areas within responsibility of the role, ensuring cost effective, independent assurance of all change investments across the Agency.

• Undertake analysis of assurance findings ensuring effective implementation of opportunities to improve ways of working.

• Develop and maintain working relationships with relevant stakeholders in relation to business as usual and change, ensuring due process is followed.

Additional information

Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement, for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week over 5 days.

This role will be based in Swansea, and we will be operating a hybrid working model that allows you to work between home and on-site giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work, subject to business needs and this also allows for ongoing support, development, and collaboration with colleagues. 

Therefore, the expectation is that you will spend a minimum of 60% of your working time based at your principal workplace (DVLA). We would encourage you to discuss the working arrangements for this role with us during the recruitment process. 

Person specification

The successful candidate will have experience of managing the process of change delivery across an organisation (within a relatable assurance area) and will have an understanding of the impact, as a result of change implementation. You will be a strong advocate for change and continuous improvement, recognising the benefits of promoting a change culture across the team and stakeholder group.

You will possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and can work effectively with key people, focusing on a common objective. You enjoy influencing others, encouraging them to make the right decisions in line with the business strategy.

You will have experience of providing guidance and robust recommendations to internal stakeholders, where your exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills will enable you to influence and challenge at all levels.

Organisation and effective time management are critical to effective performance in this role and you will thrive managing a varied and challenging workload, delivering a service in line with customer expectation.
