Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of the team supporting the Royal Marines Mountain Leaders (ML). The ML Storekeeper plays a key role, working alongside military colleagues, at the Royal Marines Commando Training Centre, conducting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inspections for ML climbing equipment: as well as undertaking general warehousing tasks. You will also join the Civil Service, providing you with the opportunity to broaden your skills, knowledge and experience.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
- Conduct PPE inspection on all climbing equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Receipt and dispatch of stock on the MoD stores accounting system.
- Assisting with stocktakes.
- Prepare stores and equipment for issue in support of Mountain Leader training.
- Provide logistic support including delivery and forklift driving duties to other areas of specialist training, commensurate with the grade as required.

Who are we looking for.
We seek workplace integrity with the successful candidate being required to work independently on a frequent basis. We are looking for an individual who can manage their own workload, prioritising and reassessing tasks as received is a key skill. Accuracy and a methodical approach are critical to the role. You will be required to attend and pass the PPE Inspectors Course. You will have good IT skills and must be prepared to work flexibly to meet the needs of the Mountain Leader training schedule. The job will involve the lifting and physical movement of stores and equipment. Full UK Driving Licence Category B is essential.
Previous experience in a warehousing role, a forklift license and an understanding of climbing equipment would be helpful.

The post does not offer relocation expenses.
