Job summary

An exciting opportunity now exists within HR Shared Services for you to come and join our team.

We provide a range of HR services, including customer service, payroll, pay administration, and pensions administration, to staff in the Scottish Government and public bodies. In a busy operational environment, your support will ensure accurate and timely processing of salary and pension changes for approximately 17,000 staff.

This is an exciting time to become a part of HR Shared Services as we undertake a large-scale transformational change programme moving to a new HR IT system in 2024. We require you to work flexibly to support a demanding and fast-paced customer service environment to meet our areas demands.

Job description

• Be accountable for ensuring the work allocated to you is completed accurately and on time.
• Provide an effective and efficient service for all customers of HR Shared Services.
• Develop an expertise of HR policies and legislative entitlements with a view to proving expert advice to customers. 
• Contribute to the wider success of teams in the HR Service Centre supporting a culture of inclusion and well-being.

Essential Criteria
1. Ability to work flexibly and demonstrate strong organisational skills to prioritise and manage your workload against deadlines within a demanding and fast paced environment whilst delivering consistently high standards of customer service exercising discretion and confidentiality.
2. Effective communication, negotiating and people skills are required to understand and address customers’ expectations and needs.
3. Ability to use your own initiative whilst demonstrating accuracy and attention.
4. Demonstrable experience using computer-based systems and Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Outlook and Excel.

Alongside your salary of £26,999, Scottish Government contributes
£7,289 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
