Job summary
RAF Cosford is the home of the Defence School of Aeronautical Engineering (DSAE), a Defence Training Establishment (DTE) reporting to the Defence College of Technical Training (DCTT), which itself is commanded by No 22 Group Air Command.
The RAF Cosford Admin Services Mail Room is a busy, challenging, customer focused and fast paced environment. The Messenger role is paramount and essential to the organisation, ensuring business continuity and effectiveness always.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work as a team to sort all incoming mail for delivery to appropriate sections by logging, stamping and forwarding to the appropriate section.
- Processing of all internal and external mail for RAF Cosford.
- Delivery of mail across site using MT vehicle, including large parcels and packages as required.
- Receipting and issuing of mail and parcels.
- Undertaking supporting administrative duties within the team.
- Other manual tasks to support the wider team, including the receipt, storage and issue of stationery stocks.
- Carrying out of any other tasks commensurate with the grade, as requested by the line management.
Person specification
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
- Excellent inter-personal skills, knowledge of Microsoft Packages especially Excel and Word would be desirable.

The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
