Background
The Office for Nuclear Regulation is the UKs independent nuclear regulator, with the legal authority to regulate nuclear safety, security and conventional health and safety at 36 licensed nuclear sites in Great Britain (GB). This includes the existing fleet of operating reactors, fuel cycle facilities, waste management and decommissioning sites, as well as licensed defence sites, together with the regulation of the design and construction of new nuclear facilities.
ONR also regulates the transport of nuclear and radioactive materials by road, rail and inland waterways, and as of January 2021 operates the UKs State System of Accountancy for and Control of Nuclear Materials (SSAC) and a domestic safeguards regime.

Advances in technology and developments in data analytics team, have begun to change the way we manage and use data as an organisation. The knowledge and skills that we have gained supports all areas of our work. There are more duty holders using advanced techniques in their business, and we need to understand them to support them effectively.
Job purpose
The Senior PowerApps developer will maintain ONRs existing Power platform solutions and develop new solutions in line with the ONRs needs, at times integrating with or leveraging the surrounding Microsoft technologies including Dataverse / Dynamics 365, SharePoint, etc. The role will sit in the Data & Analytics function area of the IT Delivery Directorate at ONR. To provide a systematic method of capturing regulatory and corporate data from across ONR, several data capture mechanisms are required.
This role requires strong hands-on experience but also the ability to understand organisation needs to develop a roadmap to meet the demands. The candidate will need to be proficient at translating business requirements into the best possible solution, whilst always mindful of best practice. Initial build will largely focus on canvas app storing the data into a SharePoint list. Existing builds make use of data verse so the candidate should have experience of building PowerApps using Canvas app, Data verse/Model driven apps and SharePoint lists.
The candidate will also lead on training other team members and must document other process/changes to a high standard.

About the role
Principal responsibilities
The senior power apps developer will be responsible for leading and developing several power app solutions mostly canvas but some work may involve data verse and portal work. Developer will also be expected to grow their knowledge and expertise in other Microsoft based technologies such Power Automate, SQL, etc.
Key operational responsibilities
- Architect, design and implement complex enterprise-scale integration solutions, adopting various technologies
- Create high-level solution designs for change initiatives and the Data & Analytics team – then presenting these designs back
- End-to-end ownership of shaping solutions & defining the right approach based on the needs of ONR.
- Excellent problem solving, and the ability to articulate solutions in a business context.
- Be Agile participate in all Agile ceremonies, have responsibility for large blocks of work for staff in various disciplines and an ability to break down user stories into tasks.
- Lead the sharing of knowledge, documentation and good practice across ONR; document all process guides and technical changes to a high standard.
- Communicate and collaborate across ONR and therelationships to maximise the benefits of BI Strategy; develop a mature data culture and smarter ways of working.
- Be a trusted technology adviser on all Power platform initiatives as well as your colleagues.

None currently, however, at this level there could be an expectation to manage staff in the future.
Location / travel
This post may be undertaken from a base at any one of ONRs office locations (Bootle, Cheltenham or London), however, there will be an expectation to attend the Bootle office on a regular basis.

Essential job-related expertise/experience and skills
- Strong experience of Microsoft Power Platform, architecture, and components (Power Apps/Automate/BI)
- Knowledge of building model driven power app applications
- Experience in utilising Microsoft 365 tools and applications, with particular focus on the Power platform (namely PowerApps and Power Automate)
- Proven ability to communicate effectively to both technical & non-technical stakeholders; collaborate and lead others to maximise the capture and the use of data to benefit the business
Desirable skills and experience
- Experience of setting up SharePoint for an organisation
- Experience of Power BI and reporting
