Job summary
MI5 keeps the country safe from serious threats like terrorism and attempts by states to harm the UK, its people and way of life. We carry out investigations by obtaining, analysing and assessing intelligence, and then work with a range of partners, including MI6 and GCHQ to disrupt these threats. Through our protective security arm, we provide advice and guidance to government, businesses and other organisations about how to keep themselves safe. Youre an excellent communicator with a pragmatic approach who can think creatively to find a solution. While youre comfortable getting things done on your own, youre just as adept at working as part of a small, collaborative team: you know how to work together to find and deliver the best solution for the business. Flexible, proactive and conscientious, youll be able to handle complex and sensitive queries with credibility.
Youll have a degree either in law or have completed a Common Professional Exam (CPE) post your non-law degree with sound Post Qualification Experience (PQE). In order to qualify for the lower grade, youll have a minimum of two years Employment Law experience; for the higher grade you will need a minimum of five years’ Employment Law experience.

Youll receive a starting salary of £74,811 or £82,846 (depending on experience) plus other benefits including:

Things you need to know
Selection process details
Our recruitment process is fair, transparent, and based on merit. Here is a brief overview of each stage, in order:
Initial application you will complete some basic personal details and eligibility questions
Full application you will complete your education and work history and answer some motivational fit questions
Assessment centre you will answer some motivational fit, competency and technical questions.
If successful you will receive a conditional offer of employment, subject to vetting.
Please note, you must successfully pass each stage of the process to progress to the next. Your application may take around 6 – 9 months to process including vetting, so we advise you continue any current employment until you have received your final job offer.
Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.
