The Information Rights Team at HM Land Registry have an interesting and varied opportunity for an experienced data protection professional to come and join our small team of information specialists. We are a small but high performing team, and pride ourselves in our approachable and mutually supportive ways of working.

We’re looking for a candidate who is capable and confident to act autonomously as a point of contact in providing data protection support, advice and guidance. This will require strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to proactively establish effective working relationships with colleagues across all parts of the organisation.

Job description

You will report directly into the Head of Information Governance & Data Protection Officer and will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of work including breach management, training and awareness, policy and guidance and supporting on the development of comprehensive and well-constructed data protection impact assessments.

Your main duties include interpreting legislation and regulatory guidance and updating stakeholders, by maintaining your ongoing professional development you will keep abreast of changes in this area. You will be responsible for creating information rights policies and procedures, and engaging proactively with colleagues to drive a ‘privacy by design’ culture at senior levels.

Person specification

To be successful in the role, you will have a Practitioner certificate (or equivalent) in Data Protection plus demonstrable experience of delivering data protection compliance activities over a good range of activities.

You will be experienced in providing expert advice on Data Protection Impact Assessments, and have detailed knowledge of current data protection legislation and associated codes of practice.

You will have demonstrable experience of developing and delivering training in data protection compliance and of providing advice and guidance to stakeholders around data protection principles and best practice.

Selection process details
