Job summary
The FGen Business Unit (BU) provides the Royal Navys Scheduling Authority, its In-Service Capability Management, an Intelligent Customer function and, discharges legislative Duty Holding Responsibilities/Risk to Life management. Dir FGens Portfolio includes DD Ships, DD SM, DD Avn, DD Logs, DD LS. Naval Bases Clyde, Devonport and Portsmouth; Air stations Yeovilton and Culdrose and AFSUP. The FGen BU contributes to achieving the Defence Tasks set out each year in the Defence Plan and key activity & deliverables set out in the annual Royal Navy Command Plan.
This post will act as the Royal Navys Intelligent Customer for Logistics Information Systems (LogIS). It will involve LogIS business, looking at future capabilities and support to In-Service which involves, base inventories, warehousing, asset tracking and consignment visibility systems. This includes acting as the Navy Command advocate for all pan-MoD programmes with LogIS dependencies.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
Responsible for ensuring Navy Commands LogIS requirements are clearly represented across In-Service activity and those future capabilities under development, with specific near-term focus on extant programmes such as Business Modernisation for Support and Navy Commands Support Transformation. Provide business intelligence (BI) analysis through exploitation of Log IS data ensuring that Logistics Support is fully aware of the risks, issues and opportunities presented through the wide range of ongoing and new initiatives.
The postholder can be based at HMNB Portsmouth or MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol, but they will be required to attend HMNB Portsmouth at least one day per week or more often, depending on organisational requirements.
Person specification
Experience:
- Experience of maritime Log IS/IX within the Joint Support Chain is essential.
Technical:
- Although no professional qualifications are required for this post, a good understanding of IS analysis and design is recommended.

The post does not offer relocation expenses.
