Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic team player to apply for the Secure Media Accountant post based in a busy Logistics & Engineering Squadron.
The Secure Media Accountant is responsible for the daily management and whole-life accounting of all deployed and static magnetic media allocated to the unit to manage; ensuring that all the location of all magnetic media is always known. Accounting is in accordance with relevant policy, legislation and the business needs of the unit.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Throughout, the Commands transformation programme is committed to following the MODs framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Commands personnel and Trade Unions.
Job description
Ensure you are aware of the layout of all magnetic media and associated equipment to ensure items can be located quickly.
Ensure magnetic media is issued correctly, with details entered accurately on the asset database and printed records. Check the serial number on all vouchers against the physical equipment to ensure they match. Only when both the asset database and the voucher align should the form be signed.
Magnetic media and associated equipment is to be transited in accordance with JSP440/490 relevant to its Protective marking. Ensure that any escort/transportation paperwork is appropriately completed.
Ensure all sub-accounts muster their assets every month and return signed vouchers to the Secure Media Cell (SMC) every 6 months. A 100% muster of all assets including sub-accounts should be completed at least once a year and signed vouchers returned to the Secure Media Registry (SMR).
File all voucher paperwork according to Dept policies and procedures and maintain a ledger of assets.
Ensure requests for secure media uplifts are logged with the Group Service Desk/Ops.
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that the SMC deliver magnetic media within agreed timelines.
Maintain associated asset encryption and password databases.
Ensure you read and sign SyOps annually.
Person specification
It is essential that the successful applicant be familiar with the Microsoft Office package and highly competent in the use of EXCEL and WORD.
They must have sound numeracy and literacy skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
This role would suit someone with an analytical approach; quality and accuracy are paramount to success.
