Here at Defence Primary Healthcare Scotland and Northern Ireland (DPHC(SNI)), we are inclusive and dedicated, working to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel!

We are looking for an Practice Nurse (Primary Healthcare) to join our welcoming team of dedicated military and civilian healthcare professionals and administrative staff located at the Kinloss Medical Centre, Forres. 

The position is part time offering 15 hours per week. The 15 hours to be worked is negotiable Monday to Friday in agreement with the Line Manager and to align with the business need.

Job description

The successful candidate will be working as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team delivering primary healthcare nursing including elements of occupational health. The post holder will also be working with the Senior Practice Nurse(s) or Senior Medical Officer (SMO) within the 
medical facility (MF) as well as being responsible for the delivery of appropriate assessment treatment, screening, and advice to patients within their professional competence and in accordance with DPHC clinical guidelines and protocols.

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

  • Providing safe, evidence-based, cost-effective, and individualised patient care.
  • undertaking preventative health programmes e.g., travel and vaccination clinics, new patients screening, audiometry. 
  • Supporting the care of patients with chronic illnesses e.g., Asthma, Diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease, and hypertension ensuring continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register.
  • Assisting with the development of plans to meet the health needs of patients including diagnostic tests, treatment plans, health promotion and prevention.
  • Anticipating likely potential physical and psychological problems caused either by the condition or by treatment.

Qualifications

Must be in date for Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC),

Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adult – depending on population at risk) or willingness to undertake training.

Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC Register

Current registration with the NMC.
