Job summary

Communications Data (CD) underpins virtually every element of modern life. It is about who we communicate with, how those communications takes place, when they happened and where we were at the time. 
The need for criminals to communicate means that the requirement for CD and it’s subsequent analysis underpins all the NCA’s operational activity, as such  the demand for CD is increasing.

As technology evolves, the complexity of Communications Data is also increasing.

Job description

The Communications Data Investigator (CDI) SPoC (24/7) will facilitate  the acquisition of communications data for the NCA and partners both in the overt and covert arenas 24/7.  It is essential that the candidate is  currently a Home Office accredited CDI and has recent and relevant experience of working with CD.   The roles are office-based and located across the NCA estate in London, Birmingham and Warrington.

**Due to the training requirements, this role is subject to two-year tenure**

Person specification

  • Act as a senior officer nationally accredited Communications Data Investigator Single Point of Contact (SPoC) between the NCA and Telecommunications and Postal Operators.
  • Facilitate the acquisition and dissemination of Communications Data intelligence and evidence in accordance with legislation and Code of Practice.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to provide guidance and advice to Senior Investigating Officers and case teams on the use of Communications Data                       
  • Identify, prioritise and manage risk.
  • Proactively identify and exploit intelligence sources in collaboration with specialist teams.
  • Protect the NCA’s repuation by upholding the highest standards of integrity and accuracy.
  • Participate in a 24/7 shift pattern  enabling the team to  deliver against NCA aims and objectives

Qualifications

The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:

Home Office Accredited Communications Data Single Point of Contact with recent and relevant CD experience
