The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in-service support, and disposal of the UK’s nuclear submarines. Are you passionate about Submarines? If so, you might be the perfect fit for the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) as a Supply Chain Manager

At the SDA, we have a vital mission: to deliver the United Kingdom’s submarine capability and ensure the Royal Navy have the cutting-edge, life-saving tools and battle-winning capabilities to overcome any challenge, now and in the future. 

You will play a key role in the delivery of Supply Chain activities, covering Demand planning, Inventory Supply Planning, Supplier Management, Financial Accounting and Supply Chain Performance Management.

As part of the Supply Operations Team within the Superintendent Fleet Maintenance (SFM) organisation, you will collaborate closely with colleagues in HMNB Devonport, to ensure there is policy and procedure alignment. You will focus on materiel enablement – the equipment and supplies required in support of engineering activities during Submarine Maintenance Periods. This is a dynamic and fast paced role that will require flexibility, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset. 

Operating in the delivery space, your team will deliver support and procurement activities. Using cross-functional engagement, and escalating emerging issues promptly, you will reduce risk to engineering tasking, sustainability, availability, and safety performance. 

You will ensure compliance with statutory regulations, MOD Supply policies as well as SDA Business Management System processes. 

The position is based in our offices on HMNB Clyde, and in-office attendance is expected at least 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Enabling optimised Supply Chain activities, through life.
  • Collaborating to create Inventory Demand and Supply Plans ensuring they are aligned with SDA Contract and Customer requirements.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management with a wide variety of internal and external personnel.
  • Leading Supply Chain Procurement across all platforms.
  • Driving continuous improvement activities.
  • Timely and accurate reporting of the financial position, ensuring budgetary limits are maintained.
  • Supporting the Supply Chain element of support solution development, providing evaluation across the Submarine supply chain for new support arrangements.
  • Defining the Information Management Checks that are to be conducted in accordance with Governance procedures, including supporting audits.
  • Supporting the production of the Supply Chain performance narratives for use by the chain of command and wider Operating Centre/Domain Operational Delivery Teams.

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Experience of Stakeholder management, internal and external, at all levels.
  • Adept in managing budgets, including managing approvals, monitoring actual spend and updating forecasts.
  • Proven ability in delivering customer service.
  • Evidence of delivering continuous improvement activities.
