Job description

This is a really exciting time to join the MMO as we are now independent coastal state, embedding new repatriated functions and services with an increased focus on the protection and enhancing of the marine environment. The Fisheries Officer roles will be central to delivering critical aspects of the Government’s ambitions for sustainable fisheries in England.

Providing support to the Fisheries Management Team and Fisheries Management Plan Team, the Fisheries Officer will support the team to ensure effective regulation of marine fisheries, including quota and non-quota species management, fishing vessel licensing and stakeholder engagement. This contributes to the shared UK government vision of a cleaner, healthier environment, benefiting people and the economy by using resources from nature more sustainably and efficiently.

The post holder will work closely with the Fisheries Managers in the Fisheries Management Plans Team and Fisheries Management Team. You will also be responsible for supporting and collaborating with colleagues in other teams across MMO. Teamwork, performance management and motivation are vital.
