The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
This is a really exciting time to join the MMO following the UK becoming an independent coastal state, embedding new repatriated functions and services with an increased focus on the protection and enhancing of the marine environment.

We are a team of around 400 people and combine our Newcastle upon Tyne and London operations with a local presence around the English coastline in Brixham, Beverley, Harwich, Hastings, Lowestoft, North Shields, Hayle, Plymouth, Poole, Portsmouth, Preston, Scarborough, Shoreham, Whitehaven.
Job description 1
Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing constitutes one of the most serious threats to the sustainable exploitation of living aquatic resources and
jeopardises the very foundation of the UK fisheries policy and international efforts to promote better ocean governance. The IUU team is responsible for ensuring that all UK Imports and Exports are subject to strict rules, checks and controls which ensure traceability and adherence to international rules on sustainable and responsible fishing.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Case Management – Validating UK Export Catch Certificates within the Dynamics 365 system. This work involves matching and consolidating data from multiple sources against UK catch documents. From this, candidates will be expected to provide guidance and instruction to industry to enable compliance with current legislation. Candidates will be expected to work towards KPIs for this workstream.
Single Liaison Office Manage and engage in correspondence from stakeholders via the Single Liaison Office shared mailbox, assisting delivery partners in verifying import catch certificates and escalating complex cases to senior managers and liaising with flag states competent authorities.
Direct landings – Catch verifying English Exports into verified EU ports and the authorisation of EU and third country Imports into England
Industry engagement – Providing a call back service to exporters in need of assistance and supporting and advising UK industry in applying for UK IUU documents.
Build an understanding of data sources containing information on fish imports, exports and traceability systems.
Maintaining a log of all calls, emails & letters from industry, public and wider stakeholders. Ensuring robust auditable processes have been followed.
Developing and maintaining wide network of contacts and trusted relationships with delivery partners and businesses.
From time-to-time other duties as could reasonably be expected related to your MMO/IUU role and experience.
