Job summary

Homes England is looking for an experienced Head of delivery management. As head of practice, and a senior member of the digital directorate, you will build and maintain excellence in agile delivery. We are building empowered agile multi-disciplinary teams that can provide the organisation with the technical capabilities to meet its mission with greater agility. Together, we’ll transform the way that Homes England provides services to our colleagues, partners, and other end users.

Key responsibilities

 

• Lead and manage the delivery management community, providing direction, guidance, and support. 

 

• Facilitate internal mobility, shape career paths, and recruit delivery management talent to build capability and excellence for an agile lean practice.

 

• Create high performing teams with an agile mindset. Building teams that consistently and iteratively deliver quality services.

 

• You will develop the agile ways of working in collaboration with your team and other heads of roles to promote effective cross-functional agile delivery.

 

• You set the direction for your teams and apply the appropriate governance to manage quality, risk and compliance.

Person specification

• You are excited about contributing to the Homes England mission.

 

• You have successfully led high-performing agile multi-disciplinary teams. 

 

• You have good people management skills to lead and manage a large diverse delivery management team.

 

• You have a track record of hiring and retaining top delivery management talent and nurturing a delivery management community that can repeatedly and successfully embed agile best practices in our delivery teams through the standards and process guardrails that you are responsible for.

 

• You have deep knowledge of a range of Agile and Lean tools and techniques, with an ability to coach within and outside of your team.

 

• You have experience working in environments using DevOps practices and deploying to a public cloud. 

 

• You are good at building strong relationships across the organisation to be able to influence strategy and execution and advocate for agile delivery practices.

 

• You can proactively solve issues, unblock problems, drive teams, and set the pace, ensuring teams are working towards delivery commitments with a focus on outcomes.

 

• You can identify and challenge organisational processes of unnecessarily high complexity and can coach the organisation to inspect and adapt processes.

 

• You keep abreast of emerging trends and best practices and can embed relevant trends and practices into the organisation.
