Job description
We look forward to reading your application for the role of Practice Lead
The selected candidate will:
Develop and implement evidence-based resources, increasing the impact of the Crime Reduction Toolkit, Research Map and Practice Bank and ensure policing and crime reduction partners have easy access to the best-available evidence on what works to reduce crime.
Engage, build and influence a complex network of contacts to ensure that What Works products are viewed by all stakeholder working in crime reduction as a vital go-to resource.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
- To engage and build a complex and diverse network of national stakeholders from across policing, community safety and crime reduction, the What Works network and academia to inspire use and application of the best-available evidence, cost effectiveness and sharing of research and practice to inform problem solving approaches and provide better services for the public.
- To engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure existing knowledge resources meet their needs and contribute to reducing crime and its impact on the general public, taking into consideration contextual implementation issues. To develop and extend existing resources, such as the Crime Reduction Toolkit and Practice Bank along with new tools to meet the needs of the What Works Centre stakeholders of the What Works Centre.
- Building capability within the College and policing to understand and use research evidence at all levels, including What Works. This includes supporting practitioner academics, the bursary scheme and being the content editor for our peer to peer publication Going equipped.. Increase the impact of research by fostering productive relationships between colleagues and researchers and providing opportunities for researchers to increase the impact of their research.
To be successful in this role youll need:
- A Degree/Level 6 qualification in a related subject area (e.g. Social Science, Criminology, Law, Management, Policing) or equivalent experience
- Experience of problem solving and taking an evidence-based approach to developing products and resources to influence practice
- Evidence of evaluating and researching information from a variety of sources, coming to logical conclusions and communicating the quality of evidence effectively to non-specialists
- Ability to effectively challenge and influence others, including more senior colleagues and stakeholders, to ensure the right outcome is achieved
