Social Security Scotland currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Scrum Master to join our Service Management & Service Development branch.  

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and reporting on the successful delivery of technical outputs within the delivery teams. Collaboration is essential, as you will work closely with colleagues across the organisation and will attend senior management meetings to provide updates and recommendations. This role offers the means to continually develop your skills and experience and provides numerous progression opportunities alongside a great work/life balance.

This role involves collaboration with colleagues from various technical teams as well as the wider organisation. This includes attending senior management meetings to provide updates on progress and recommendations based on potential risks. You will maintain boards, plans, and reports that allow stakeholders to easily track the progress of their projects.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead a small team consisting of Developers, Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance Analysts. Collaborating closely with other Scrum Masters, you will work together to deliver business objectives.

DDaT Pay Supplement
This post attracts a £5000 Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) pay supplement after a 3 months DDaT competency qualifying period. Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by market pressures and are subject to regular review. This post is part of the Scottish Government DDaT profession. As a member of the profession you will join the professional development system, currently BCS RoleModelplus.   

Job description

• Manage and co-ordinate the outputs of one or more delivery teams using appropriate and agreed project management methodologies, learning & iterating frequently
• Work prioritisation and decision making within the assigned delivery teams
• Report progress, delays, risks and issues to relevant governance boards and stakeholders
• Review, challenge and adjust performance levels to ensure quality outcomes are delivered on time, rewarding success
• Assist in resolution of delivery blockers
• Champion and coach Agile Delivery Methodology within the delivery teams
• Act as escalation point for delivery teams
• Work with other SCRUM Masters to ensure output dependencies are identified and logged
• Support the CDO Delivery Manager and Portfolio Manager in the management of a pipeline of potential new initiatives/projects, determining whether (and how) a set of projects in the portfolio can be executed within the finite development resources in a specified time
• Fundamental to pipeline management is the ability to align the decision-making process for estimating and selecting new projects with the Transformation strategy
• Support the Delivery Manager in the management of the overall CDO product roadmap, ensuring project outputs and programme outcomes are captured and tracked and dependencies managed and effectively communicated

Person specification

1. Experience of leading Agile teams across both business and technical environments. 
2. Meeting and workshop facilitation skills, including problem analysis and retrospection. 
3. An understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban . 
4. Experience of balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity within a digital environment.
