Let us tell you a little bit about the role… 

As a Workforce Planning Manager, you will work within DDaT ( Digital Data and Technology) Business Operations, which is a cross-cutting function that supports DDaT and DBT corporate services to enable teams to effectively deliver on crucial public facing projects. The Business Operations team is integral to project delivery and supports delivery teams in several ways including providing governance, assurance, finance, commercial, recruitment, capability, and project delivery best practice. 

You will work with the Strategic Workforce Planning Lead who is responsible for strategic workforce planning across DDaT, ensuring that DDaT operates an effective resource and recruitment planning process.  This covers the end-to-end people process including recruitment, staff moves and departures.  Given DDaT is continually evolving, you will be pivotal to this work.  You will be supporting colleagues at all levels within DDaT, DBT staff working in DBT’s Resourcing and Finance teams, and third-party suppliers of interim labour support.  You will be continually looking for opportunities to improve current ways of working. 

 This role is available in  Severn UK locations, . This role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas. Most DBT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in the office on average. Changes to these working arrangements are available in certain circumstances but must be agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role. Travel to your primary office location will not be paid for by DBT, but costs for travel to an office which is not your main location will be covered.

Job description

Responsibilities     

In this role you will: 

  • Effectively manage DDaT’s people data
  • Present and interpret workforce data to colleagues across DBT.
  • Make recommendations on workforce planning decisions.
  • Return DBT’s monthly resourcing commission timely and accurately.
  • Work with DDaT line managers to ensure that information on their teams is correct, ensuring that changes resulting from evolving priorities are reflected in planning returns.
  • Work with DBT’s Resourcing Team to validate recruitment priorities and recruitment approvals while keeping up to date records.
  • Manage contingent labour approvals and renewal processes, including working with DBT’s supplier of contractors.
  • Ensure security clearance compliance standards are met as part of recruitment processes.
  • Work with colleagues in DBT DDaT and other stakeholders to improve ways of working, workforce planning, processes, and data presentation.
  • Build links with other workforce planning experts in DBT and other DDaT functions.  
  • Respond to regular commissioning, briefing and audit requests from DDaT, DBT and wider government for information on DDaT’s workforce composition and future plans.

Essential Skills and Experience    

You will need to have demonstrable skills and experience of: 

  • Working knowledge of workforce planning processes of HR (Human Resources)
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Effective decision making 
  • Presentation skills

Desirable Skills and Experience    

These are not necessary but would be ideal if you: 

  • Ability to prioritise and manage workloads dynamically, with minimal supervision.
  • Have confident MS365 skills
Alongside your salary of £31,443, Department for Business and Trade contributes

Reserve list  

Appointments may be made to candidates in merit order based on location preferences. Security Clearance details   

 All security clearances require you to provide evidence of your UK footprint where you have been physically present in the UK. 

The requirement for SC clearance is to have been present in the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years. 

Failure to meet the residency requirements will result in your security clearance application being rejected.
