Job summary

The UKSV contract manager will primarily manage the relationship with the main security vetting service provider plus the supporting contracts that ensure a smooth vetting system is kept operational for security clearances. This service is due to be extended to February 2028 and requires dedicated account and contract management to ensure smooth operation between government and supplier. 

As the contract manager, we will look to you to provide effective contract management of specific suppliers within the Directorate, ensuring that key documentation remains current and accurate and that various elements of the obligations in the contract are delivered.

Job description

Your daily duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Effective Contract Management, including monitoring and evaluating performance and working with suppliers to improve performance.
  • Undertake supplier monthly contract review meetings to ensure that contracts are effectively managed with appropriate reporting to management including reporting of contract performance indicators, analysis of performance data and applying appropriate measures to correct performance or non-compliance and budget/spend management.
  • Initiating and ongoing maintenance of the contract management plan including ensuring all stakeholders manage their obligations under the contract, including areas such as risk management and business continuity.
  • Managing contract values and cost model for specific suppliers.
  • Supporting the finance Business Partner in ensuring an effective contract management system is in place.
  • Work with finance function to regularly benchmark the contracted service, and action any outcomes from the benchmark review.
  • Work with commercial team and project team on any pre-procurement and procurement activities, including identifying any commercial activity for inclusion on the pipeline and completing any necessary paperwork.

Person specification

As a Contract Manager within UK Security Vetting, we are looking for people who have the following expertise and attributes:

  • Significant experience in a commercial and/or contract management role where you have demonstrated an analytical approach, good problem-solving and strong negotiation skills.
  • Significant understanding of commercial, contract and supplier relationship management techniques and demonstrable experience of applying them in practice.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing the delivery of multiple activities in parallel within a fast-paced environment with limited oversight.
  • Understanding of commercial governance and approvals processes.
  • Experience of building and managing effective relationships with customers, suppliers and senior internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills – G Suite, Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the procurement routes available in Government or experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity.
  • Have already completed or be willing to complete contract management training.
