Working in our Advanced Manufacturing Facility, you will use your existing skills and experience within a team of manufacturing engineers working on projects critical to protecting national security. 

Using your skills and knowledge in areas such as: programming machinery, profiling ovens and set up on a variety of Surface Mount Technology assembly equipment; inspecting build quality using x-ray and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment; routine machine maintenance; Design For Manufacture (DFM) consultation with design engineers;  and mentoring junior staff.

With hands-on involvement in producing and building products, you will be using some of the smallest components available in both New Product Introduction (NPI) and production environments, using the latest technology, often within our specialist clean room facility.

Job description

Using your diverse range of skills within the Automated PCB Assembly (Surface Mount Technology) Team, you will:

•    Program a variety of equipment; including Jet/Stencil printers, Solder paste inspection systems, Pick and place systems, AOI and X-Ray machines. 
•    Assist in the setting up and operation of all processes.
•    Carry out hand-fit and rework tasks (including use of an infra-red rework station). 
•    Perform quality assurance and final inspection tasks. 
•    Liaise with design engineers to provide the latest advice (DFM) on build standards, techniques, and components. 
•    Support the development of less experienced team members through mentoring and coaching. 
•    Utilise your knowledge of processes to provide support of incoming and replacement capabilities.
•    Utilise your machine knowledge to assist in the scheduling and support of routine machine maintenance across the range of equipment.

Person specification

To apply for this role, you will already have:
•    Experience of setup and operation of a variety of automated assembly equipment.
•    Experience in programming and profiling-up of a variety of automated assembly equipment.  Including: Jet/stencil printers, Solder paste inspection, pick and place systems, Reflow ovens and AOI inspection systems.
•    Strong IT skills; particularly in Microsoft Office Excel and Word
•    Understanding of Gerber and CAD files in the Surface Mount Technology process  

To strengthen your application, it would be beneficial if you also have:

•    Experienced in equipment maintenance scheduling and delivery.
•    Experience in mentoring and/or training 
•    IPC 610 and/or IPC7711/7721 rework qualification
•    Experience in process qualification e.g. (SMT/Selective soldering)
