Job description
We look forward to reading your application for the role of College of Policing Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
As an integral part of the Executive Team, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) will collaborate with our Board to establish a clear strategic vision and direction that translates into dynamic and relevant priorities for policing.
This role is key to the effectiveness of the workings of the College of Policing as a NDPB, funded by a Home Office grant in aide. It requires strategic relationship management; leading engagement with, and beyond, policing, to build and influence relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to ensure the Colleges role as a policing systems leader is visible and recognised by key stakeholders.
As a change leader, the DCEO will drive a common vision, demonstrate transformational and kind leadership, whilst building ambition and delivering accountability and performance. They will continue to build a strong and effective senior leadership team that enables everyone in the College to bring their best and most effective selves into the workplace.
Person specification
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Providing inspirational visible leadership, support, and direction, working collaboratively across professional communities, delivery portfolios and all functional areas to set clear objectives and performance measures with senior leaders that enable them to deliver high-quality products and services through their teams.
- Delivering visionary strategies that produce sustainable customer and service-centred outputs.
- Leading a governance function that supports the Chair, Board and Executive to fulfil its responsibilities, implementing a Board Assurance Framework to provide assurance to the Board and Committees.
To be successful in this role youll need:
- To have successfully completed the Strategic Command Course (SCC).
- The ability to demonstrate political awareness to influence and work successfully with a wide range of internal and external senior stakeholders.
- To be able to inspire and engage large and diverse teams, leading by example and through active engagement with colleagues at all levels.

Selection process details

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in a two-stage assessment process, consisting of a stakeholder panel session and final panel interview. This will take place on Tuesday 5th September in a London location.
Eligibility:
This role is available for an initial term of between 18 months and 3 years as a secondment opportunity to serving police officers substantive in the rank of Deputy Chief Constable. It is also available to those officers suitably qualified for temporary promotion in the rank of Assistant Chief Constable.
