Job description
The Aviation directorate works to maintain the UKs position as a world leader in aviation and we work hard to support a strong aviation sector that helps the UK exert its influence across the world. We work with the sector to ensure that investment, trade, jobs and social opportunities, which aviation creates, allows our country to thrive connecting all the regions of the UK with an increasingly globalised society.
We are recruiting for three exciting roles that will require the post-holder to develop trusting relationships with aviation industry experts and officials across Whitehall. It will allow the post-holder to engage with complex policy challenges, gain valuable insight into the policy development process, and contribute towards the DfTs strategic aims.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the development of specific policy areas and providing proactive advice on current policy challenges for Ministers and senior officials.
- Working closely with stakeholders including, but not limited to, the Civil Aviation Authority, Home Office, Ministry of Defence, Department for Levelling up, Housing and Communities, and the wider aviation sector to support the delivery of policy objectives.
- Drafting submissions, briefings and parliamentary work on behalf of the team including correspondence work where appropriate.
- Contributing and supporting wider divisional priorities, such as managing divisional risks, milestones, and finances.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required as part of your role.

Additional information
A minimum of 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.

As part of the application process, you will be asked to provide a CV and Personal Statement (1000 words). Please tailor your CV to suit the role. For your Personal Statement, please provide detailed evidence of the following:
- Experience of displaying strong written, verbal, and presentational skills, with the ability to present complex issues clearly and succinctly to senior stakeholders.
- Experience of being a collaborative team player, able to lead, engage, influence, and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience of managing competing priorities and using tools or processes to continue to deliver against high priority work.
- Experience of approaching challenging policy problems and proactively using evidence to arrive at recommended solutions

Pre-employment Checking
