Job summary

Work independently to conduct data protection duties within HQ Air Security Force. The role of Data Protection Advisor will have you deliver advice to the Provost Marshal(RAF), ensure compliance with policy and liaise with outside agencies and members of the public.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. 

Job description

The RAF Police (RAFP) Data Protection Advisor (DPA) is an independent role within HQ Air Security Force (ASF) that has the responsibility for promoting and implementing data protection policy, compliance and governance at all levels across the organisation. It offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of individuals from across the Armed Forces, outside agencies and members of the public. The use of initiative is highly encouraged and you will have the freedom to generate training and advice for members of the RAFP on all data protection matters. You will work closely with the AIR DPO Team and take the lead on investigating and responding to data protection requests that concern the RAFP.

Person specification

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be an effective decision maker, able to challenge where appropriate
  • Communicate, collaborate and influence with a variety of individuals
  • Display leadership
  • See the big picture and identify issues
  • Be able to use a suite of Microsoft Office tools
  • Have experience using SharePoint.

 

Experience in the following fields are highly desirable:

  • Data protection and information governance
  • Information Security and Information Management
  • Providing advice based upon multiple sources e.g., Policy and legislation.

The post does not offer relocation expenses. 

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours and Experience.

Applications will be sifted and those successful at that stage will be invited to interview. Sifting will be completed week commencing 22 Jan 24, with interview dates provisionally scheduled for week commencing 5 February 2024.
