We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Contracts Manager to join our Clinical Practice Research Datalink team in the Safety and Surveillance group.

This is a full- time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 4 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 8 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly. Remote working is potentially available for some specific roles. The MHRA is transforming, creating a progressive, responsive and sovereign regulator of medical products that is a fundamental requirement to achieve the innovation set out in the UK Life Sciences Vision. The new Safety and Surveillance Group brings together into a single integrated structure devices and medicines safety expertise with enforcement capabilities. These functions will be supported by our data and evidence generating capabilities complementing our signal generating capabilities produced via the new Safety Connect System.

Part of the Safety and Surveillance group, The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), jointly sponsored by the Agency and the National Institute for Health Care Research (NIHR), is the UK’s preeminent research service providing access to anonymised NHS data for research. In addition to supporting high quality observational research, CPRD has developed world leading services based on using real world data to support clinical trials and interventional studies.

Job description

The Contracts Manager role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the UK Government’s premier data-driven research serviceThe Contracts Manager belongs to the CPRD Business Management team, reports to the Senior Contracts Team Leader at CPRD and is responsible for providing effective contracts management for the range of services provided by and supplied to CPRD, in order to protect the business interests and reputation of CPRD.

Responsibilities include drafting bespoke contracts to support CPRD’s evolving research services; leading on negotiation of contracts with CPRD’s wide range of stakeholders; and effective governance and post-signature management of contracts.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Negotiate new contracts and renewals and support business improvement
  • Draft contracts and documentation
  • Protect CPRD’s reputation and interests
  • Manage records and documentation, contracts processes and stakeholders

Person specification

The successful candidate will be an expert negotiator, reaching resolution through a collaborative approach to deliver business objectives and will have knowledge and good understanding of contract law, intellectual property and data protection legislation and governance relating the use of patient data in research, including GDPR. You will also have excellent written communication and analytical skills with the ability to concisely and clearly present an organisation’s position e.g. legal.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrable experience in maintaining contract management systems and providing management status reports and will be a good team player, working closely with colleagues to deliver organisational objectives. Self-motivated, with a strong sense of personal accountability.

Alongside your salary of £41,185, Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency contributes
£16,631 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

  • Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave on entry, rising by one day for each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days and pro-rata for part-time staff. PLUS 8 bank holidays

  • Hours of Work: 37 hours (net) per week for full time staff in all geographical locations, including London and pro rata for part-time staff
