Job summary
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) secures UK and global prosperity by promoting international trade and investment and championing free trade. Inward investment is crucial to the UKs economic growth, bringing more jobs and helping us recover from the economic impact of COVID-19.
This role represents an exciting opportunity to develop and lead the DBT investment function in Scotland, where DBT now has dedicated teams. As an Investment Lead you will work closely with investment organisations, Scottish Development International and the other enterprise agencies in Scotland, city and growth deals, local authorities and the Scottish Government to ensure UK Government support is most effectively deployed to maximise delivery of successful inward investment. You will map the available support, uncover propositions and support new and existing investors, ensuring a productive contribution to the operating environment that maximises the UK Governments offer.
Within DBT you will work closely with the Office for Investment, the DBT Investment Services Team and DBT sector teams to provide regular insight on Foreign Direct Investment [FDI] (prospective and existing) to Ministers, ensuring co-ordination between all government departments and governments and tackling thematic challenges.
On a day-to-day basis you will work in the DBT Scotland team, working closely with sector, policy and engagement leads to ensure coherence between our trade and investment strategies.
The role will require the capability to build strong external relationships that will influence senior investors and sell Scotland to them as an investment location, combined with the ability to provide Ministers and senior leaders in UK Government with advice on complex issues.
