This role will be based in RAF High Wycombe. We operate a hybrid working model that allows you to work between home and on-site giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work, but during the onboarding / probation stage you will need to be physically in the office 3 days per week. (This will be reviewed after the initial 6 months). We would encourage you to discuss the working arrangements for this role with us during the recruitment process.

We are looking for a Portfolio Support Officer (PSO) to support the RAF Digital programmes of work. As a member of the team, you will be supporting the Management, Assurance and Administration required to successfully deliver the projects and business benefits. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders from across the organisation and be at the heart of delivering change.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. 

Job description

This is a developmental role that offers lots of training and upskilling opportunities that may suit someone new to portfolio / programme / project management but would equally suit someone looking to consolidate their experience in a technology-based organisation.

In this role, your day-to-day could consist of:

  • Supporting the project officers with the collation of Management Information (e.g., for risks / issues; performance, cost & time deliverables).
  • Secretariat support for internal management meetings.
  • Cohering financial information and providing support to the HQ finance team.

Person specification

Essential 
•    Willingness to work towards becoming qualified once in role. (Industry recognised training courses will be fully funded and taken during working hours).
•    Be proficient with the use of various IT systems, including the full suite of Office 365 applications.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and the credibility to build positive relationships within and outside of the immediate team.
•    Have strong influencing skills to ensure the projects / programmes continue to meet key performance objectives and outcomes.

Desirable
•    Hold a portfolio, programme or project management qualification.
•    Have experience of working within a Project delivery / Programme Management environment.
•    The capability to grasp and retain information quickly, whilst supporting multiple capability areas and projects. 
•    High attention to detail, and expert in the manipulation of an array of data to produce detailed reports to support decision making.
