Job summary
Significant changes in the geopolitical landscape coupled with the pace of technological development places pressure on how we defend our country. The Strategic Systems Group anticipates the next generation of strike & defensive missile systems in order to ensure the long term safety and defence of the UK. This role will enable the secure delivery of scientific and technical advice across a number of high impact defence projects.

Job description
In this role you will:
- Be responsible for timely delivery of specialist support to a number of classified projects, including administration and assurance of IT systems, configuration and testing of security measures, production and update of documentation and accreditation evidence.
- Maintain a safe, secure and accredited working environment for classified projects.
- Liaise with internal and external Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and regulatory bodies, interacting effectively with project managers (PMs), UK / international customers and military customers as necessary.
- Provide security advice and support to new projects or systems.
- Conduct a regular tempo of maintenance, control, inspection and documentation of system security aspects for all projects under your control.
- Organise and participate in regular meetings in which stakeholders manage current and emerging compliance issues.
- Generate and keep up-to-date documentation, to current information assurance security standards.
- Support investigation and resolution of security incidents, including preparation and presentation of logs, evidence and associated factors.
- Over time, provide guidance and/or support where additional staff are brought in to supplement this function, including tasking, mentoring and oversight of colleagues work where appropriate
The role will support a number of close-knit teams who are in enduring high demand and deliver impact on an often International scale. You will be a key enabler to maintaining a controlled and accredited working environment which will enable ongoing technical work across a number of projects. This will include inspections by UK partners, often to challenging deadlines
Person specification
We are looking for an individual who has:
- Experience of working in a high-security environment in government or industry; conducting audits and / or reviewing process compliance; identifying, recording and managing risk at project level
- Drive and determination to solve complex challenges within multiple regulatory environments
- Passion to be an enabler to teams conducting high-impact work for Defence
- Diligence, attention to detail and responsive to critical review
- Clear communication skills, in both oral and written mediums
- Ability to challenge where appropriate
Important Information
Our work in defence, security and intelligence requires our employees to be UK Nationals who are able to gain a high level of security clearance to undertake the projects we are involved in to protect us from security threats. For this reason, only UK Nationals will be able to apply for this role. This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. For some roles Developed Vetting will also be required, in this case you should have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.
