Located within HM Naval Base, the Principal Security Advisor (PSYA) is looking to recruit an Administration Officer (AO) working within the Personnel Security Team to risk manage all Royal Navy Service Personnel in all Top-Level Budgets (TLB) identified as a security risk through on-going personnel security measures. The role supports the Royal Navy in relation to National Security Vetting Clearance.
Part of Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ), the nerve centre of the Naval Service, The Principal Security Adviser (PSyA) is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight of security activity and ensuring Navy Command TLB complies with Defence security policy.
Within Navy PSYA Personnel Security Team, we assess vetting cases in relation to risk management and provide assurance to the Navy Command Senior Security Risk Manager. This is essential to the diverse and complex Defence threats and challenges in a rapidly changing world. Together our mix of civilian and military personnel in Navy PSYA inform security decision making in Defence to support operational objectives.
As an experienced administrator you will play a pivotal role in supporting the personnel risk mitigation of this department. You will be a subject matter expert on Annual Security Appraisal Forms and procedures.

Job description
Working within the Personnel Security Team in the RN service Lead Command (SLC) to provide administrative support and assistance as required to the Vetting Team. In Pursuit of duties liaise with individuals and/or Chain of Command of all TLB Business Units where RN Service Personnel are employed, United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) staff, Defence Security Personnel Security staff and other appropriate Service authorities.
Responsibilities
- To provide assistance and support to RN/RM to initiate and complete their Annual Security Appraisal Form
- To process electronic Security Appraisal Forms Initiation forms received and any AD HOC SAFs required for Loan Foreign Assignments, Partners Across Government and Overseas requirements of the RN/RM Service Personnel.
- Support and administration of the Vetting Team, scanning documents, Maintenance of sponsor accounts and any other Ad HOC administration duties that may be required.
- To assist in distribution and preparation of documentation for Navy Vetting Appeal Panel (NVAP) as required.
- Management of classified assest register MOD Form 102.
