Job summary
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) plays a vital role helping the UK public sector buy common goods and services to deliver maximum value for the taxpayer. CCS works with central government departments and their arms length bodies, as well as organisations across the public sector, including in the NHS and in local government, helping them to purchase everything from locum doctors and laptops to police cars and electricity. CCS aims to be trusted and admired by buyers and suppliers for its expertise and the quality of the services it offers, and the solutions it provides. In the last 12 months, the organisation has delivered £3.8 billion of commercial benefits, with a spend throughput of £31 billion. It is the largest public sector procurement organisation in the UK and a key part of the Government Commercial Function.
Job description
Next year, the CCS Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Simon Tse, will retire and an opportunity now exists to appoint a new CEO to lead an organisation that is a key part of the Government Commercial Function and sits at the heart of commercial transformation taking place across government. The successful candidate will lead over 800 staff based across five main locations in the UK, and drive the organisation to achieve an even greater level of impact and influence.
Person specification
The successful candidate will bring a track record of first class
leadership and business acumen to further CCSs organisational development. They will have a proven ability to authentically engage and deliver for senior customers, and will be able to demonstrate excellent people, stakeholder management and engagement skills that will need to be applied to a broad range of both existing and new stakeholders. They will be an inspirational role model who engages, develops and encourages staff at all levels to build a confident, delivery focused workforce.
