This is an exciting opportunity to join the Strategy, Performance and Engagement (SPE) Group at the heart of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). The group enables UKRI to lead, participate and shape discussions about the research and innovation system. We work hand in hand with experts from our councils and government on some of the biggest issues facing UK research and innovation. Our work plays a key role in delivering UKRI’s strategy, and the government’s ambition to strengthen the UK’s position as a global science and technology leader.

Job description

Initially you will be based within the Research Integrity team within the SPE group. You will support the UK Committee on Research Integrity and play a role in wider areas of research integrity activity. Giving you the chance to work with key external contacts. Teams across Research and Innovation Culture and Environment are working with partners to cultivate a dynamic, diverse and all-encompassing system of R&I in the UK that is an integral part of society, giving everyone the opportunity to participate and to benefit.

The purpose of this role is to support and manage this ambition via project management and operational support for the committee. A key focus will be enabling the committee to achieve success in this space, working with committee members and across the research system to raise the profile of research integrity.

Person specification

Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience in planning and management of operational processes and projects in a strategic way to deliver successful outcomes
  • The ability to establish and maintain good working collaborations at all levels, both internally and externally

Travel

Travel to quarterly committee meetings will be required. These take place in different locations across the UK.

Occasional travel to UKRI’s London office may be required.

Location

The Polaris House campus is a 10-minute walk from Swindon Town Centre and is easily accessed from Swindon train station by footbridge. Onsite facilities include collaborative working spaces, staff canteen, free parking, bike sheds, private showers, and a subsidised nursery (subject to availability).
